Editorial policy

How the work is made, checked and corrected.

This page sets out how Dr. Shruti Goel produces its journalism. It is written to be held to.

Independence

Nothing on this site is sponsored, and no company pays to appear here. No brand of toothpaste, brush, rinse or floss is recommended by name in exchange for anything, and where a product type is discussed it is discussed as a type.

The site exists to explain, not to sell treatment. Where an article says a problem usually needs seeing, that is a clinical statement and not an advertisement for this practice in particular — any competent dentist can look at it.

Sourcing and accuracy

We attribute in the text rather than in a footnote nobody clicks. If a figure has a date attached, the date goes in — most numbers about daily care, gum health, diet & enamel are true of a moment rather than for ever.

Where a subject is genuinely disputed, the article says so and represents the disagreement rather than resolving it for the sake of a cleaner conclusion.

Who writes

The writing is human. We do not run generated copy as editorial.

Every article on this site is written by Dr. Shruti Goel, and carries her byline and an author page. There is no second writer and no ghostwritten copy. A byline is a statement of responsibility, so nothing here is published anonymously.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we correct it on the page and say what changed. We do not quietly edit an article and pretend it always read that way. Substantive corrections carry a dated note at the foot of the piece.

To report an error, use the contact form and choose “Correction”. Tell us the article and what is wrong; we will look at it and reply.

The limits of what we publish

Dr. Shruti Goel publishes general information. It does not know your circumstances, and a general explanation is not a substitute for advice from someone who does. Nothing here is medical advice. Our disclaimer sets this out in full.

Photography and credit

Photographs are licensed from Pexels under its licence and credited to the photographer beneath the image. Photographs are illustrative: unless a caption says otherwise, a picture shows the general subject of an article rather than the specific instance described in it.
